Berry Bliss French Toast Bake

Can you say “weekend brunch bliss” more clearly than this flavor combo? Layers of La Brea Bakery artisan bread baked with creamy custard, fresh berries, and a touch of vanilla make this dish a sweet, simple, and crowd-pleasing centerpiece. Perfect for holidays, celebrations, or any morning that deserves a little extra love.

Ingredients
  • 1 La Brea Bakery French Loaf, cut into 1-inch slices
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 6 large eggs
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups mixed fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (for greasing and drizzling)
  • Optional: powdered sugar, maple syrup, or whipped cream for serving
Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with melted butter.
  2. Arrange the sliced La Brea Bakery Country White Sourdough Loaf in the dish, slightly overlapping each slice. Tuck some of the berries between the slices and scatter the rest on top.
  3. Whisk together milk, cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a large mixing bowl until smooth and fully combined.
  4. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread, making sure all slices are well soaked. Press down gently to help the bread absorb the liquid.
  5. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for deeper flavor).
  6. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  7. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup or add a dollop of whipped cream.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy the berry bliss!
