This coming Friday is National Bakery Day, and we felt there was no better way to celebrate than by giving you a sneak peek of a day in the life of our DVP and Executive Chef, Henk Drakulich, to see what life in a bakery is really like.
For Henk, every day at La Brea Bakery is a different adventure and there is no such thing as a “typical day” as he divides his days at our offices in Playa Vista, our Los Angeles Café or our Downtown Disney Café.
From attending vendor food shows and reformulating recipes to working on marketing initiatives and coordinating café logistics, Henk does it all - and we couldn’t be more grateful to have him as a critical member of the La Brea Bakery team. He’s been with La Brea Bakery for four years, and in that time has spent countless hours developing recipes and leading the bakery team in Los Angeles and Downtown Disney.
Whether he’s working with the finance team to map out new plans for processing invoices and creating materials for the new POS system or revamping the café menu with seasonal ingredients and new foods – Henk wears many hats. Despite his busy and unpredictable schedule, he often takes the time to prepare food for and attend local charity events. For Henk, his responsibilities at La Brea Bakery far surpass the walls of the kitchen.
